Assumed the seller’s mortgage and needed a $20,000 down payment. We took out a $10,000 loan from our real estate agent to purchase the property and scrounged up the other $10,000.

Meet Dave Peniuk & Julie Broad

Dave Peniuk Julie Broad

Dave Peniuk and Julie Broad have been involved in real estate investing the better parts of their lives. They both grew up in families that owned and invested in real estate – so you might say the “foundation” for what would become Rev N You With Real Estate was formed early in life …

Dave Peniuk took his first step toward becoming a full-time real estate investor when, before turning 20, he bought his first property with his mom (in 1992.) In fact, Dave’s parents gave him a great jump-start, with a firm base of real estate knowledge from an early age. “Fix it and flip it” ideas and projects were common in Dave’s family - and growing up, he was always learning about real estate investing.

Completing his Bachelor of Arts and Masters degrees in Applied Social Psychology, Dave took a hiatus from real estate investing … until he got back into it with Julie in 2001. It seems his lifelong dream of being a full time real estate investor had never left him; together with Julie, he soon found himself diving head-first into real estate again. Dave signed up for all kinds of courses and started trying every strategy he could to make millions in real estate – all while holding down a full-time job.

After a few years and 11 property purchases, Dave and Julie found themselves in the middle of quite a few near disasters. The financial strain and chaos were taking a toll, but they persevered, finally cleaning up their mess. It was at this point that Dave and Julie agreed on a slower-paced, much less stressful and more sustainable strategy for their real estate investing.

It’s that strategy that they share with their Rev N You readers today, while Dave continues to work as a commercial mortgage broker … for now.

Julie Broad was raised in the 20-room motel her parents owned in rural Alberta, Canada – so she, too, was always around real estate investing. In fact, not only her parents, but her grandparents – and even her aunt and uncle – all bought and sold land and commercial real estate. After reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad in 2000, Julie decided real estate investing was the way to get her money working for her.

Right around that time (at age 24) she met Dave, partnering with him in 2001 to buy their first 2 properties – right before moving to Toronto. It was there that Julie completed her MBA in Real Estate and Finance at the Schulich School of Business. She then went on to work for Canada’s leading real estate information service company, RealNet Canada.

While working for RealNet, Julie learned all about the Canadian new home and commercial real estate industries – as she was continuing to build her real estate investing portfolio with Dave. In November 2008, she retired into full time real estate investing.

Julie’s doing exactly what she wants to do – building her real estate fortune with Dave, while helping others do the same through Rev N You With Real Estate.
